How to Manage PHC Duty While Prepping for NEET PG

How to Manage PHC Duty While Prepping for NEET PG

Can you clear NEET PG while working at a PHC?

Yes! Read my guide on how to use your duty breaks wisely and study smarter to reach your dream PG seat.

Being a doctor at a Primary Health Centre (PHC) is busy. You see many patients, help with programs, and sometimes work long hours. On top of that, you want to study for NEET PG – one of the toughest medical exams! It can feel impossible.

But don’t worry, it is possible. I did it, and so can you. It’s all about studying smart, not just studying more.

1. Plan Your Day: Every Minute Counts

At a PHC, your day can be unplanned. A new patient arrives, or there’s an emergency. So, you need a flexible plan.

  • Morning Routine: Try to wake up 1-2 hours before your duty starts. This quiet time is gold! Focus on high-yield topics or quickly review notes.

  • During Duty (Small Breaks): Do you have 15 minutes between patients? Instead of scrolling on your phone, open your Cerebrum app! Do a quick set of 5-10 MCQs. Review a flashcard. These small breaks add up.

  • Evening Study: After duty, you’re tired. Don’t aim for a 4-hour study block if you’re exhausted. Aim for 1-2 focused hours. Use your energy when it’s best.

2. Focus on “High-Yield” Topics

You can’t study everything. At a PHC, you often see common diseases. These common diseases are also often high-yield for NEET PG!

  • Connect Duty to Study: Did you see a patient with Diabetes today? Go home and read up on the latest guidelines for Diabetes management. Did you help deliver a baby? Review Obstetrics topics. This makes studying more interesting and helps you remember better.

  • Use Good Resources: Like Cerebrum, choose apps or books that only give you the most important points for exams. Don’t waste time on very rare diseases unless it’s a super important concept.

3. Take Care of Yourself

This is the most important tip. If you burn out, you can’t study or work well.

  • Sleep: Try to get 6-7 hours of sleep. It’s hard, but sleep helps your brain remember things.

  • Eat Well: Don’t skip meals. Healthy food gives you energy.

  • Relax: Find a small way to relax. Listen to music, talk to a friend, or go for a short walk. Even 15 minutes of downtime can reset your mind.

  • Don’t Compare: Everyone’s journey is different. Some people have more study leave; some have less. Focus on your progress.

4. Build a Support System

Tell your family or close friends about your goal. They can help you by giving you space to study or cheering you on. If you have a study partner, you can motivate each other.

You Can Do It!

It’s a tough path, but remember why you started. Every patient you help at the PHC makes you a better doctor. Every hour you study brings you closer to your NEET PG dream.

With smart planning, focused study, and taking care of yourself, you will succeed.

Welcome to the Cerebrum Family!

Hello! I am so glad you are here.

I am a doctor just like you. I know how it feels to come home after a long day at the clinic or hospital and still have to open a textbook. It is exhausting, and sometimes it feels like there is just too much to learn.

I created Cerebrum because I wanted to make our lives easier. This app isn't about studying for 18 hours a day—it’s about studying the right things in the time you actually have.

What you will find here:

  • To-the-point notes: No extra fluff, just what you need for your exams.

  • High-yield MCQs: Practice the questions that actually matter for NEET PG and Medical Officer exams.

  • A helping hand: I’ve been in your shoes, and I built this tool to help us both succeed.

Take a deep breath. You’ve got the dream, and now you have the tool. Let’s start studying smarter, not harder.

Happy Learning!
